Redox-active nanoparticles for inflammatory bowel disease

چکیده

Homeostasis of gut microbiota is extremely essential for maintaining nutrient metabolism and regulating immunological function. The increasing evidence suggests that inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) strongly associated with dysregulation microbiota. During activated inflammation, excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) nitrogen (RNS) produced by cells play a detrimental role in IBD ROS/RNS cause damage to the surrounding tissues, including absorption disorders, intestinal dysmotility barrier dysfunction. Meanwhile, provide terminal electron receptors anaerobic respiration support bloom facultative anaerobes, eventually causing dysbiosis. Redox-active nanoparticles (NPs) catalytic properties or enzyme-like activities can effectively scavenge ROS/RNS, selectively target inflamed sites via ultrasmall size-mediated enhanced permeation retention (EPR) effect, showing great potential regulate maintain homeostasis In addition, widespread application NPs commercial products has increased their accumulation healthy organisms, biological effects on normal resulting from long-term exposure gastrointestinal tract also need attention.

Neonatal Presentation of Unremitting Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Very-early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO-IBD) has a distinct phenotype and should be considered a specific entity. VEO-IBD presents with very severe clinical pictures and is frequently known by an indeterminate colitis whose clinical remission is unmanageable. This study examines the case of a neonate with VEO-IBD, not responding to medical and surgical treatment. A 7-day-old Iranian fe...

INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE Clinical significance of azathioprine active metabolite concentrations in inflammatory bowel disease

Background and aims: There are conflicting reports on the role of azathioprine (AZA) thioguanine nucleotide (TGN) metabolites in optimising therapy for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The aim of this study was to investigate TGN intrapatient variation, and the relationship between TGN concentrations and disease activity in IBD patients taking long term constant dose AZA. Methods: TGN and meth...

Sweet Syndrome Accompanying Inflammatory Bowel Disease in a Child

Acute neutrophilic dermatosis, first described in 1964 by Robert Douglas Sweet, is characterized by sudden onset fever, neutrophilic leukocytosis, and well demarcated erythematous papules, nodules, and plaques with dense neutrophilic infiltrates on histologic evaluation. Here is a report of a 7-year-old girl who presented with high grade fever, and discrete erythematous papular skin eruptions, w...

Effects of Probiotics and Prebiotics in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) including most important forms; Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC); are chronic diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract with unclear etiology and pathology. The role of gut microbiota has recently been considered as major a factor, since altered microbiome or "dysbiosis" is a key player in the protracted course of inflammation in IBD. Howeve...
